In Biden’s January 6th Address, Trump Wasn’t Named Once.

Why wouldn’t you name the man responsible for what happened?

Virtually anyone who has news alerts on their phone, uses social media, or turned on a television yesterday was more than likely reminded of the fact that it’s been one year since the violent insurrection in the Capital, as lawmakers attempted to certify the results of the 2020 election. Of course, there is no denying the significance of that event, and what it did to remind us of the ever growing threat of right wing authoritarianism and fascism, so it should come as no surprise that President Biden took the opportunity to address the nation on the one year anniversary. There’s just one little problem:

Biden didn’t even name the man responsible.

There are few outside of the hard right wing who would deny the role that Donald Trump played on January 6th. He quite literally told the crowd to go to the capital, and didn’t do a single thing to stop the violence for hours. Which, unfortunately, only makes not naming the man responsible for the violence we saw that day even more bizarre.

To be clear, there were aspects of Biden’s speech that were decent. He did a good job of breaking down the core pieces of the disinformation that continues to surround the election and telling…
