In a Talk with Bernie Sanders, Obama Revealed a Lot About the Democratic Party.
A response to an incredibly telling conversation between the former President and the Senator from Vermont.

Over the course of the last year while he’s been out of office, there has been a considerable amount of discussion about Donald Trump’s hold over the GOP. People are taking notice for good reason, considering he’s been out of office for over a year and still manages to dictate the career course for virtually every right wing lawmaker hoping to maintain their relevance or make a name for themselves. That said, while Trump’s maintenance of control is noteworthy the same could certainly be said for former President Barack Obama who after over six years out of office still holds more sway among Democratic circles than arguably anyone else. Of course as the most powerful man among Democratic elite, every once in a while stories pop up regarding Barack Obama that undeniably reveal a lot about not only his personal political views, but the Democratic Party overall.
Recently, quotes from a 2018 conversation between Obama and Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders resurfaced that interestingly enough, seem even more relevant today than they did at the time.
According to Sanders’ former Deputy Communications Director Ari Rabin-Havt, Obama said to Bernie:
“Bernie, you are an Old Testament prophet — a moral voice for our party giving us guidance. Here is the thing, though. Prophets don’t get to be king. Kings have to make choices prophets don’t. Are you willing to make those choices?”
If that isn’t a summation of everything the Democratic Party has become, then I don’t know what is.
I can almost hear Obama’s voice as he says this. I can hear the rhythm of the words, the pauses between sentences, and the changes in pitch. I can see him looking Bernie in the eye as he makes it all too clear where he stands.
Prophets don’t get to be King…
