If Joe Biden Wants His Agenda Passed, it’s Time For Hardball.
Enough of the games. Carrots aren’t working, and it’s time for the sticks.
The divide within the Democratic party has certainly reached a critical point when it comes to the infrastructure and reconciliation bills. As we have known for months, progressive lawmakers have been reiterating that they would hold the conservative democrats to their word, and refuse to pass the infrastructure bill in the house until the reconciliation bill had passed the Senate. While much of the media narrative would have you believe that progressives are simply being disagreeable or unreasonable, not only are they merely holding their end of the agreement, it is Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema who won’t even tell President Biden, progressives, or the media what they specifically object to within the bill.
Kyrsten Sinema won’t even mention a price tag she is comfortable with.
I’m not sure how much more obvious it can be that if Joe Biden actually wants to see this legislation passed and become his legacy, then it’s time for hardball. The carrots aren’t working, and it’s time for the sticks.
