If George Santos Was a Democrat.
Could you imagine how the right wing would be reacting to all these lies?
If you so much as scroll through social media or scan the headlines, it has been impossible not to see New York’s Congressman-elect George Santos’ name coming up as the scandals surrounding him and his campaign continue to dominate the news cycles. Every other day it would seem, we’re learning that a new detail from what he claimed was his background going into the campaign has been a lie. He is not Jewish. He did not graduate from the colleges he claimed to have graduated from, and his work history is a complete and utter lie as well. Virtually everything that constituents in his district new about his past has been proven to be untrue, of course rising serious questions as to whether or not he should even be sworn in.
In circumstances like these, I find it both amusing and useful to imagine what people would do if the shoe was on the other foot.
Imagine if it was a Democrat who had lied about their entire background, and only admitted to it after they had been elected. Imagine if it was Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, Nancy Pelosi, or heaven forbid AOC? The right wing would not rest until they were chased out of town not just by their base, they would make so much noise other Democrats would feel compelled to oust them…
