If Democrats Pass the Budget Bill.
It cannot be understated how important it is for Democrats to pass this consequential piece of legislation.
As I have said now on countless occasions, I will be the first to admit I am cynical and oftentimes too much so, particularly when it comes to politics. Of course, needless to say the cynic in me has been pleasantly surprised by recent developments regarding the reconciliation bill, or is now known as the budget bill.
In spite of a handful of conservative Democrats urging Speaker Pelosi to put the bipartisan infrastructure bill up for a vote before the budget bill, conservative Democrats begrudgingly joined progressive lawmakers in voting to approve the $3.5 trillion blueprint for the bill, signaling an important step forward for the legislation in the efforts to get it passed. Not only that, but the progressive caucus has reiterated their position and made it explicitly clear that they will vote no on the bipartisan infrastructure bill if it is brought to a vote before the budget bill.
As much as I don’t like to get my hopes up, I’ve now been finding myself really considering the possibility, implications, and what it would mean for Democrats to pass this bill.
