I Really Could Not Care Less About That United Healthcare CEO.

He’s dead. So are lots of people that can’t afford healthcare.

Well, we’ve all seen the headlines by now, right?

A few days ago the CEO of United Healthcare Brian Thompson was assassinated in the streets of New York City walking to a hotel where he was meeting with investors, with bullet casings inscribed with Deny, Depose, and Defend. The individual who did it is currently still on the run, and CEOs of other healthcare companies have begun to squirm and reportedly ramp up their security. It’s still dominating the headlines. We’re still seeing the masked face of the individual who allegedly did it plastered all over social media and our television screens as time ticks by, while chances of ever finding them continue to diminish with each passing hour.

Frankly, I just cannot bring myself to care.

I have a feeling it’s not just me, but I can’t bring myself to extend a shred of sympathy for Brian Thompson.

Why would I waste my energy?

I don’t have the capacity to care about him when every single year, enough people to pack a football stadium completely ful are dying because they are uninsured or underinsured. It’s hard for me to feel sympathy for a man who oversaw a business…
