How is Trump’s Indictment Impacting the GOP Primary?
It’s going exactly how one might have suspected.
There’s never a dull moment when it comes to Donald Trump, is there? It’s always one thing after another and at times it feels almost deliberately exhausting, like they don’t want us to be able to keep up with it all. Well, as virtually everyone with access to the internet and television has heard by now, the former President has been indicted a second time, and is due in court Tuesday June 13th. Naturally, with Trump the heavy frontrunner in the 2024 GOP primary, it should come as no surprise that the impact this might have on the upcoming election has been a focus of conversation in recent days.
Well, we’re getting an early answer to that question.
Lauren Sforza with The Hill writes:
“Former President Trump topped his closest Republican challenger by nearly 40 points in a new poll of likely GOP voters following the news of his federal indictment.
The CBS News and YouGov poll found that 61 percent of likely GOP voters would vote for Trump in the 2024 Republican primary. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) trailed in second-place, garnering 23 percent of the vote…”
Ahead by nearly 40 points as he’s facing not one, but two indictments.
