Finally, there was a victory for America’s organized labor.

We need them now more than ever before.

It’s been an absolutely brutal year and a half. Here in the United States hundreds of thousands of people have died, succumbing to a virus that leaves them unable to breathe, dying alone in a hospital bed without the comfort of a loved one’s hand to hold. On top of it, millions have been forced out of work and left to figure out how to put food on the table for their families. As someone who works in a nursing home in northern New York, I have seen firsthand the toll this virus has taken on our communities and it has been painful to say the least, watching those in a position of power fail us in nearly every conceivable way.

That said, I and many others on the left, as bleak as things may seem, have been able to find a silver lining or two along the way. Personally, the American worker beginning to realize their value has helped me to cling to hope better than perhaps anything else.

With the pandemic bringing on what has been deemed a “labor shortage”, workers all across the country are beginning to realize they have the upper hand. Along with people quitting jobs in droves, many who remain working are beginning to demand more from their employers, as they should. Recently, John Deere’s unionized employees particularly in…
