‘Evil’ does not come close to describing Senator Joe Manchin.
There really are no words to describe his greed and indifference.
Well, the writing was on the wall months ago. Senator Joe Manchin, a Democrat, has effectively killed the party’s landmark reconciliation bill after it was recently reported that climate change provisions would likely be dropped because of his refusal to vote for it otherwise. The Senator is many things, but he is not unintelligent. He knows that doing so all but guarantees that the progressives in congress will say that there’s no deal, as they should. At the end of the day, all this really means is that Joe Manchin is so fundamentally corrupt and morally bankrupt, he is willing to torpedo the entire piece of legislation that is desperately wanted by the American people because it would affect his own personal financial ties to the coal industry, and his family business.
As this news was being reported I stumbled across a quote that is tied to Noam Chomsky, who summed it up best when he said:
“I don’t know what word in the english language — I can’t find one — that applies to people who are willing to sacrifice the literal existence of organized human life so they can put a few more dollars into highly overstuffed pockets. The word evil doesn’t begin to approach it.”
“The word evil doesn’t begin to approach it.”
According to OpenSecrets, in 2018 Senator Manchin was worth an estimated $7.6 million dollars. And yet here we are, literally with the future of civilization and humanity in jeopardy because a multi-millionaire doesn’t want to risk his coal company profits. If we’re being honest, it takes a certain type of narcissistic, sociopathic individual to behave this way so brazenly and confidently. I may just have a bachelors in psychology, but how else are we supposed to view such a stunning level of greed and indifference?
The man should not have a moment of peace.
Of course, as is ALWAYS the case with the Democratic party, Manchin is nothing more than the convenient rotating…
