Encouraging Vaccinations Got Donald Trump Booed at His Own Rally.
The republican party is so far gone.

Regardless of where one might fall on the political spectrum or how much someone even follows politics in the first place, the consensus seems to be that Donald Trump is the godfather of the Republican party, and for good reason. Even after all these months, his grip on the GOP has not waned in the slightest, and the vast majority of the right wing is eagerly awaiting the day he announces his intentions to run again in 2024. Of course, that only makes events that took place at his Alabama rally even more surprising, and indicative of just how far gone the right wing truly is here in the United States.
Donald Trump evidently had the audacity to encourage them to get vaccinated, and apparently they did not like it.
Allan Smith with NBC News writes:
“Former President Donald Trump was booed at a rally Saturday in Alabama after he told supporters they should get vaccinated.
‘And you know what? I believe totally in your freedoms. I do. You’ve got to do what you have to do,” Trump said. “But I recommend take the vaccines. I did it. It’s good. Take the vaccines.’
Some boos rang out from the crowd, who were largely maskless…”
Not even Donald Trump can control the monster he helped to create.
While I can’t say I’m necessarily surprised his comments were met with this response from staunch right wing voters, the fact that even Donald Trump could be met with this response from his supporters speaks to just how devastatingly polarized and removed from reality the right wing truly is. But, isn’t this the inevitable aftermath? Wasn’t this bound to happen after well over a year of propaganda and anti-science rhetoric fueled by nothing more than politics, and the desire to stay in power no matter what the costs by telling the base exactly what they wanted to hear?
The thing is, there’s a reason why right wing leaders are suddenly trying to gently nudge their base in the direction of getting vaccinated. Now, it’s primarily affecting their base more than anyone else, and donors are starting to get irritated.
After all, we simply cannot go into lockdown again, can we? Heaven forbid we risk their profit margins, as opposed to saving lives. But if even their beloved Donald Trump can’t get through to them under these current circumstances with the virus continuing to rage out of control, what exactly are we supposed to do? Unfortunately, these people do not exist on an island, and they put lives in jeopardy. What do we do when a significant portion of the country can’t even be motivated to protect themselves let alone the lives of people close to them?
