Well, Elon Musk’s attempted hostile takeover of Twitter has proven to be successful. The world’s richest man is now poised to buy one of the largest social media companies in the world for $44 billion, and still be worth well over $200 billion dollars afterwards.

Yesterday, my coworker and good friend had to check his bank account to make sure he had enough in his account to cover the bottle of soda he wanted from the vending machine. Just a couple of weeks ago, he clocked in as an aide to discover that due to call ins, until others like myself could make it in to help it was just him and one other CNA responsible for over 40 people with dementia. We make barely over $15 an hour.

Needless to say, watching one man secure the finances to make a purchase of over $44 billion on a whim in a matter of days is as incomprehensible as it is infuriating.

Oh, and according to globalgiving.org, it would cost $20 billion to end homelessness in the United States.

Just months ago, I remember Elon Musk condescendingly telling the UN to show him a report detailing how much it would cost to end world hunger and he would donate the amount. He made a less than $6 billion donation.
