Drop Out, John Delaney.
At this point it isn’t even funny anymore.
At first, I almost felt bad for the guy.
John Delaney seems harmless. He probably is, and it’s sort of funny to consider how he’s still running for the Democratic presidential nomination even though his campaign has never cracked above two percent, even after debate stage exposure. His narcissistic idea that the American people actually care what he has to say in spite of all evidence proving otherwise is absolutely laughable. The second hand embarrassment I get from watching this poorly media trained multimillionaire “Democrat” using his platform to tell the struggling American people to just quiet down and be less divisive is almost too much at times. Having said that, watching his performance during the most recent debate in Detroit put an end to all the fun.
It’s time for John Delaney to drop out.
As the debate went on, I grew increasingly appalled at the amount of time John Delaney was given to speak. He was handed an undeserved and unwarranted platform that offered the American people absolutely nothing. He has virtually no support, and yet they treated him as though he was at the same level as Biden, Sanders, and Warren. I couldn’t understand it, and frankly the fact that he was called upon so often was a disgrace to the national discourse and the Democratic Party. It would be one thing if he had even a fraction of the support of the Democratic Party, but his two percent in the polls doesn’t come close to justifying the perception of relevancy that he was given by the CNN moderators. John Delaney’s campaign was funny, until it evolved in to a massive and embarrassing waste of time.
The time that John Delaney was given to talk could have been devoted to other more relevant candidates such as Warren and even Buttigieg, who would have been able to elaborate further on their visions and go in to depth about their plans. Delaney’s presence on that stage took away from that, and it offered nothing of value. He has proven time and time again that he is nothing but a valid empty suit, desperate and scrambling to preserve the system which has granted and maintained his privilege.
Even with all that said, I also cannot see the objective rationale for his continued fight in this race. He has absolutely no chance. At some point, it becomes a colossal waste of money and time for not just him, but his family, staff, and donors. Maybe when the rich donors weigh in, Delaney will finally step aside?
To be fair, it wasn’t just John Delaney. John Hickenlooper for example also serves absolutely no purpose, and was given far too much time to talk. I’m looking forward to the next round of debates, in which hopefully a vast majority of these candidates with virtually no support will no longer be allowed on the debate stage, no matter how much they still may think they should be. But at some point, the opinions of the American people should be taken in to account. Maybe then, the candidates with actual support will be able to give answers longer than a sound byte.
