DeSantis is Now Taking Over Florida Redistricting Efforts.
As if GOP gerrymandering wasn’t bad enough, it just got worse.
While Republicans in general continue to grow increasingly dangerous, for me personally aside from Donald Trump, for reasons almost too numerous to mention few have raised more red flags and alarm bells than Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
Well, the man is at it again.
DeSantis’ administration has now essentially been given control of Florida redistricting, and evidently he is poised to gerrymander it even more than the GOP state legislators.
Jane C. Timm with NBC News writes:
“The GOP-controlled Florida Legislature is throwing in the towel after a public fight with Gov. Ron DeSantis, a Republican, over his desire to draw a new congressional map that would carve up two largely Black districts.
Republican leaders acquiesced Monday and said the Legislature will let the governor’s office present its preferred map during this month’s special session, after DeSantis vetoed the ones approved by state lawmakers earlier this year…
