Dear Liberals, “Vote Blue No Matter Who” is Not Working.
We need to have another discussion about this failed approach.
As I have said many times over the years that I have been writing about and focusing on U.S. politics, as much as I might vehemently disagree with liberals on a wide variety of issues, my problem is not with them. As frustrated as I might be with their approach to politics and what oftentimes feels like complete and utter indifference, or oftentimes hostility to those who might be to the left of them, it’s never been a better time to put all of that aside. Given everything that is at stake not just a few years down the line but right now, it’s time for liberals, progressives, and any group that considers themselves even remotely on the left to have an honest, productive, open dialogue about where exactly we go from here.
Frankly, it has never been more important to discuss why “vote blue no matter who” is a strategy we are seeing fail in real time.
Let me begin by stating that I understand the rationale behind it. I understand the desire to mitigate damage done, and it’s perfectly reasonable to argue that we should vote strategically.
