Could Ted Cruz Actually Lose His Senate Seat in Texas?

When it comes to competitive elections here in the United States, we oftentimes look to states such as Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, or Ohio as the ones that will decide an election. That said, one state that has been fascinating to watch in recent years is none other than Texas, which seems to be inching closer and closer to a potentially blue state down the road. Of course, it’s a state that Republicans can not afford to lose.

So how is Republican Senator Ted Cruz doing in his reelection race down in the Lonestar State?

One week out, it appears as though the race between Cruz and his Democratic challenger Rep. Colin Allred is within the margin of error.

Ewan Palmer with Newsweek writes:

“Texas Senator Ted Cruz is the favorite to win reelection over his Democratic rival Colin Allred in November, although some polls suggest that the race could be tight.

The incumbent Republican is predicted by forecasters to defeat Allred in the November 5 election, as the congressman aims to become the first Democrat to win a U.S. Senate race in Texas since 1988.
