Chuck Schumer Might Have a $6 Trillion Infrastructure Plan?

I’d like to know how he’s going to get members of his own caucus to vote for it.

On a number of occasions in recent weeks, I have not hesitated to express my frustration with the Democratic party’s handling of the infrastructure bill. While we might lay the blame on Senators like Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema, I will admit that far too often I forget to bring up someone who certainly holds at least equal blame: the leader of their own Senate Democratic caucus, Chuck Schumer. Recently however, it was reported that should talks regarding the infrastructure bill with Republicans go south, the Senate Majority leader intends to weigh an infrastructure bill that would spend as much as $6 trillion, and move forward likely with the reconciliation process that would not require a single Republican vote.

Trouble is, how would the Senator get members of his own caucus to vote for it?

Once again, it’s all boiling down to optics.

To be clear, if this budget was proposed and Schumer manages to get it passed, I will be more than happy to give him the credit he would absolutely deserve. There’s certainly no denying that we need a robust infrastructure bill, and the bigger the better. But right now, of course, there is no clear…
