Canada Responds to Mass Shootings in the U.S. Better Than the U.S. Does.
It appears our neighbors to the north are concerned about their southern border, and justifiably so.
After the slaughter of nineteen fourth grade students and their two teachers at Robb Elementary sent their small community in Uvalde, Texas and the entire nation justifiably reeling. Of course, sadness and pain have also developed into rage as we discover all the ways those children and their teachers were failed by the Uvalde Police Department as well. Officers who stood outside for over an hour, threatening the families of students and teachers with arrests and tasers as they listened to gun shots and screams inside.
The pain is almost unbearable to witness as family members and survivors share their stories and express their despair. As I’ve said before, I’m not sure I will ever be able to forget Angel Garza, the med aide who showed up on scene and began assisting a little girl covered head to toe in blood and discovered as he spoke to her that the blood she was covered in was the blood of his dead daughter Amerie. I’ll never forget the moment it clicked that the little girl he was helping might be eleven-year-old Miah, who said she covered herself in the blood of her dead best friend and laid in it for an hour in order to play…
