Can We Stop Calling What Happened With Joe Biden a “Coup”?
This narrative needs to end.
It’s been fascinating to see the discourse continue to evolve surrounding the Democratic Party as we rapidly approach the 2024 election, now with Vice President Kamala Harris as the presumptive nominee following Joe Biden’s decision to step out of the race and endorse her. Of course, it’s not exactly a surprise that the right wing is still throwing things at the wall in an attempt to see what sticks as they struggle to adjust to her campaign and the momentum that she’s brought in with her and continues to maintain.
Well, hilariously enough it’s being called a coup and unfortunately, The New York Times’ Maureen Dowd has added fuel to that fire.
In an article entitled ‘The Dems Are Delighted. But a Coup Is Still a Coup.’, Dowd writes:
“One of the most ruthless and successful tacticians in congressional history seemed sheepish about knifing her pal, and conflicted over whether to take credit. Et tu, Nancy? Biden must have thought.
When David Remnick asked Pelosi if her long relationship with Biden could survive, she replied: “I hope so. I pray so. I cry so.” She added, “I lose sleep on it, yeah.”…”
