Billionaires Have Made it to Space. No, it’s Not at All Exciting.

The richest people on earth turning space travel into a pet project isn’t something to celebrate.

Well, it’s official.

Under their culture and enrichment subsection, The Hill reported that the first billionaire would be flying to space. Today, Virgin Group founder and British billionaire Richard Branson made it to space a few days ahead of Jeff Bezos’ scheduled ride.

Kenneth Chang with The New York Times reports:

“On Sunday morning, a small rocket plane operated by Virgin Galactic, which Mr. Branson founded in 2004, carried him and five other people to the edge of space and back.

More than an hour later, Mr. Branson took the stage to celebrate. “The whole thing was magical,” he said.

Later, during a news conference, Mr. Branson was still giddy, saying “I don’t know what’s going to come out of my mouth because I feel I’m still in space.”’

Well, I would argue there’s a reason a lot of us don’t find this news anything to feel “giddy” about.
