Biden Wants South Carolina to Kick Off the Democratic Primary.
“Comical, if it weren’t tragic”.
Biden hasn’t committed to running again in 2024, but he’s certainly laying the groundwork for a primary win for himself or whoever his preferred, anointed successor might be in the meantime. I suppose I should begin by saying I would absolutely agree with the notion that perhaps Iowa and New Hampshire aren’t the best states to be leading the election process for the Democratic Party considering they are far from representative of the overall Democratic base, or the country overall for that matter.
But, let’s just say President Biden’s proposal isn’t much better.
“Sen. Bernie Sanders’ 2020 campaign manager and current adviser Faiz Shakir sparked both outrage and glee Monday morning by publicly slamming President Joe Biden’s recent proposal for Democrats in South Carolina to lead off the 2024 presidential primary.
In a New York Times op-ed, Shakir called Biden’s proposal “comical, if it weren’t tragic.” In an interview a few hours after the piece was published, he added that putting South Carolina first was a “fatal flaw” in Biden’s plan and an “obvious slap in the face to our good sense.”
