Biden Wants Filibuster Reform for Voting Rights. It’s Probably Not Going to Happen.
Rhetoric is one thing. Action is another.
Biden’s approval rating is tanking. Frankly, that’s exactly what it should be doing considering he has proven himself to be fundamentally ill equipped to handle this moment. I mean, a President doesn’t hit an approval rating as low as 33% for no reason. Can we really be surprised his numbers are tanking when he has failed to keep a single campaign promise, and can’t even get members of his own party to pass a piece of legislation that was literally named after his campaign slogan?
All that being said, it’s clear Biden and his team are aware of how disastrous his numbers are looking, and are attempting to at least appear as though they’re addressing the issue. Evidently, the Biden administration has begrudgingly established that they have to at least look like they want to get voting rights done, and the President has now made a public call for setting aside the filibuster just in this one instance to get it accomplished.
It’s not going to happen.
Heck, even the President didn’t seem all that optimistic. When asked whether he was going to have the votes in order to make this happen, what was his response?
“Keep the faith.”
