Biden Says Healthcare is a Human Right, but Opposes Medicare for All?

Healthcare should not be privatized, and I wish the President felt the same way.

It’s no secret that among all the issues that have drawn me to politics, there are few I feel as passionately about as healthcare. It was the issue that drew me to Bernie Sanders’ campaign in the middle of 2015 when he was polling at 3% nationwide, and interests me even more now than it did then. Throughout the 2020 democratic primary it was fascinating to watch the corporate wing of the party attempt to dance around the issue, engaging in double speak and pretending to understand the importance of healthcare for all while also refusing to acknowledge the extent of the brutality of our current healthcare system.

Among them was current President Joe Biden, and it continues to this day.

On May 1st, the President’s Twitter account tweeted:

“Health care should be a right, not a privilege in America.”

Whether they read my writing, follow me on social media, or know me in my personal life, anyone who knows me would know I wholeheartedly agree with this statement. So why then, has the President vowed to veto Medicare for All legislation if it ever crossed his…
