Biden Filled His Immigration Court With Trump Hires. Why?
There are no excuses.
There are certainly a number of reasons to find the Trump administration reprehensible, and be genuinely glad that Donald Trump no longer holds the office of the Presidency. Frankly, I’m sure I’m not alone in getting a sense of satisfaction that he is going to be spending the rest of his life thoroughly convinced that the 2020 election was stolen from him. It’s exactly what the man whose lack of leadership abilities was responsible for hundreds of thousands of deaths deserves. That being said, we also owe it to ourselves and the future of the country overall to hold the Biden administration accountable as well, and address problematic decisions coming from his White House.
So, why is Biden’s immigration court packed with Trump hires?
Rebecca Beitsch with The Hill has reported that the Biden’s administration has hired a slate of immigration judges who were originally selected during the Trump era, in a move that has understandably angered activists who already feel as though the administration is not doing enough to reverse the damage from the Trump years. None of the first seventeen picks have made a career of representing migrants in court, and all of them are former prosecutors and counselors from ICE.
