In the years now that I have been following politics religiously and writing about it as well, one thing I’ve come to realize is just how grateful I am and will continue to be to Senator Bernie Sanders. For a number of reasons I won’t get into, it’s safe to say that I would not be the person I am today, and life would be very different if he had not run for President. Frankly, the outcome of the 2020 Democratic primary continues to weigh heavy on my mind, and I find myself wondering what things would be like if Bernie had won. Recently, the Vermont Senator had a few things to say regarding the Democratic party that were undeniably correct, and certainly worth discussing.

In an exclusive interview with The Guardian, Bernie said:

“It is no great secret that the Republican party is winning more and more support from working people…It’s not because the Republican party has anything to say to them. It’s because in too many ways the Democratic party has turned its back on the working class.”
