Bernie Would Have Handled Covid Better.

And I think about it a lot.

I’ve discussed how the 2020 Democratic primary unfolded has left a lasting impact on the way I view American politics, and probably always will. Watching the Democratic party organize and strategize more effectively against Bernie Sanders than it ever has against the GOP or corporate interests was something I will never forget, and I’m sure others on the left feel the very same way. Of course, the pandemic has certainly left me considering how different things would be if Bernie was currently the President.

For one thing, Bernie would have handled Covid better, and that’s an irrefutable fact. A recent tweet from his account served as yet another reminder of the type of leader we could have had.

Bernie posted:

“All Americans should have face masks that will keep them safe. I will be introducing legislation tomorrow for N95 masks to be sent to every household in the country. This will save lives and reduce health care costs.”

Not only does this serve to remind us of the type of leadership we could have had under Bernie, but it has me — once again — marveling at the utter lack of it coming…
