Bernie Sanders Refuses to Accept Further Cuts to the Budget Bill.
I have never seen progressives show so much strength.

For as long as I have been following politics, it’s certainly no secret that few — if anyone — have inspired me and filled me with hope more than Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders. While I have had my differences of opinion with him in terms of strategy in the past, watching him drop out of the 2020 democratic primary was incredibly painful and taught me lessons that will stay with me for years and years to come. That said, while the 2020 primary may be over, Bernie Sanders continues to lead by example with his good intentions and firm advocacy for the American people, and his determination only seems to have grown stronger.
Perhaps one of my biggest critiques of the Senator is his hesitancy to criticize his fellow Democrats publicly, no matter what the issue may be. Personally, the issue of the $15 minimum wage comes to mind. That said, Bernie seems to have determined it is time to draw the line, has planted his feet firmly in the ground, and proven without a shadow of a doubt that there is about to be a war within the Democratic party over the fate of the budget bill and the policy proposals that lie within it.

“Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders has pledged to not accept any further cuts to the massive spending package still making its way through Congress, saying the $3.5 trillion cost is enough of a compromise, the Associated Press reported. Sanders has also called for tax increases on America’s top earners to cover the cost, which he says both Democrat and Republican working-class voters would find acceptable.”

Considering the fact his original plan called for 6 trillion, he certainly isn’t wrong.
I cannot get enough of this newfound side of strength coming from our progressive lawmakers, and feel compelled to address it every time I see it simply because it’s such a welcome change. I cannot remember the last time lawmakers in Washington were this willing to fight on behalf of the American people, and the fact that it’s so noteworthy for that simple idea alone speaks volumes.
