Bernie Sanders’ Pleas to Democrats Are Falling on Deaf Ears.
They need to change course, but will they?
In the years that I’ve been following politics and after supporting Bernie Sanders through both of his runs for the Presidency, I’ve come to the conclusion that part of what bothers liberals and loyal Democratic voters the most about Bernie is that he’s most often right. Well, at least on the right side of history. Personally, the image of him standing alone speaking to an empty congressional chamber in 1991 about the Persian Gulf War will stay with me forever. He is principled, genuinely cares, and remains uncorrupted by the Washington cesspool that only grows more influenced by money with each passing election cycle.
There is absolutely no denying that Bernie is also responsible for reinvigorating a tired, frustrated base and young people in particular who felt as though they had no reason to get involved with politics. He inspired people, and breathed fire into a generation that had all but given up. If Democrats like Joe Biden and Chuck Schumer had any interest at all in actually delivering for the American people, they would actually heed and consider the advice that Bernie has to offer in the face of what’s looking like an abysmal 2022 midterm election cycle.
