Ah, Ben Shapiro.

The supposed right wing intellectual wonder boy. The man who has all the answers. A man who has the uncanny ability to make his audience feel smarter by more often than not, just saying a whole lot of nothing. Well, he shared some of the bright thoughts on his show recently about school lunches and unfortunately, they just didn’t really pan out.

Jason Campbell on Twitter shared the clip, quoting Shapiro as saying:

“Ben Shapiro: “School lunches are not going to solve the problem of child hunger at any serious level,” adding “It does not take that much money to feed a child”’

Alright so here’s the thing…

If he were to simply say that school lunches alone are not going to solve the problem of child hunger, I would agree. Food deserts and income of course come into play, and of course it should go without saying that Ben Shapiro has no intention of solving those problems, either. But he seems to be coming from a place where he’s implying that this alone is a reason why we shouldn’t do it at all. Is that supposed to make the situation…
