Recently, Republican Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene was removed from her committee assignments by a vote in the House after a number of incendiary Facebook posts from her days before congress were unearthed. Considering how some of her posts indicated support for the execution of the Speaker of the House and referred to a number of incredibly anti-Semetic tropes and conspiracy theories, there’s no question that the Georgia congresswoman needed to face consequences for her statements. Unfortunately however, Marjorie Taylor Greene’s own response to her removal from the committees indicated why she still emerges as the winner.

In a press conference, with little if any indication that she felt at all sorry for her past statements, Greene chose instead to highlight the fact that now, with all this free time on her hands since she now longer has to sit in meetings where her voice is not heard, she is able to fundraise and garner more support across the country. At the end of the day, after hearing her response one can’t help considering how what was supposed to be a punishment has undeniably worked to her benefit.
