AOC Had An Excellent Point About Lauren Boebert.
She had a lot to say about the right wing’s reaction to Boebert’s theater incident, and she wasn’t wrong.

It feels safe to assume that it’s going to be a while before Colorado’s Representative Lauren Boebert is going to live down what happened in the Denver theatre recently. At least on social media, there really was no escaping the stories or the video camera footage of Boebert and her date fondling each other in the middle of a theatre packed with kids during a performance of Beetlejuice, and understandably so. For someone coming from the wing of the Republican Party who does not hesitate to simply accuse Democrats of being pedophiles with absolutely no evidence whatsoever to back it up, this story warranted the attention it has gotten from the left. But of course, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was quick to point out who has been curiously silent.
On her instagram, AOC said:
“All I gotta say is I can’t go out to lunch in Florida in my free time. Not doing anything. Just eating outside and it’s wall to wall FOX News coverage. And then you have a member of congress engaging in sexually lewd acts in a public theater, and they got nothing to say. I danced to Phoenix once in college, and it was like, all over the place. But putting on a whole show of their own at Beetlejuice and it’s, and there’s nothing. I’m just saying be consistent. That’s all I’m asking for. Equal treatment. I don’t expect it, but come on.”
There is no honestly denying the fact that AOC completely correct. The difference between the way AOC has been treated as opposed to Lauren Boebert is so staggering you cannot ignore it. It’s so incredibly frustrating to see the differences in the standard for politicians on the left and the right, and the polarization has only made it worse.
It feels as though AOC can’t even simply exist without someone on the right taking issue with it. We all know without a shadow of a doubt that if the roles had been reversed, Boebert would not rest until AOC was out of a job. It would cost her her political career, and the right wing and even some of the more conservative members of the Democratic Party would certainly be making sure of it.
Consistency, right?
That’s all AOC wants, and yet we all know that that’s too much to ask. For the right wing, hypocrisy and double standards are the entire point. They know how it looks, and they simply do not care. Their sole purpose in government is to simply stand in opposition to progress no matter the cost. So long as their donors keep writing those campaign checks and they continue to be percieved as the bullies, none of it matters. Considering how close her previous election was, at least we can find some solace in the fact that she probably won’t be getting elected again.
