A GOP congressman just referred to women as “earthen vessels”.

The right wing just gets more and more disturbing.

With the supreme court now poised to gut reproductive rights in the coming months, it should come as no surprise that members of the GOP are using the opportunity to draw attention to themselves and pander to the base as they do so. But perhaps the most stark, disturbing display of all came from representative Madison Cawthorn on the house floor of the capitol.

Incredibly, the most mild part of his speech was when he decided to compare abortion to walking by someone, ripping a polaroid picture from their hands, and shredding it before it was fully developed. He likened the polaroid to “the image of God”, going on to say a silent genocide was being waged. Then of course, Cawthorn took it a step further, stating:

“Eternal souls woven into earthly vessels sanctified by Almighty God, endowed with the miracle of life are denied their birth by a nation that was born of freedom.”

Dr. Jennifer Cassidy took to Twitter to write what many others noticed as well, saying:

“Truly one of the most disturbing things I’ve witnessed in a long time. A Congressman, in a bid to overturn Roe V Wade and deny…
